Namaskar! Welcome to Bangalore!

Welcome to Bangalore!

Today was filled with rest and an insightful presentation and discussion of the educational system in India. Mya Menon, director of The Teacher Foundation- Indira Subramanian, overviewed the educational structure, teacher preparation, and challenges of the India’s current educational policies and practices. The assigned readings have left me with a few questions and generalizations of what I might see tomorrow morning as we head off to our first school visit.

Dinner was buffet style with my plate displaying a smorgasbord sampler of Indian style cuisine. It was wonderful to have the hosts from The Teacher Foundation to join us, as we were able to continue our discussions throughout the meal.

Our hotel accommodations are lovely, and I found time after a late dinner to head up to the roof top pool for a relaxing swim. If you are wondering… the toilets are similar to those at home, and my hotel room is clean, comfortable, and quite luxurious. Tomorrow, I’ll get out to see Bangalore as we visit a government school (Vasanthnagar) and attend a Cultural Dinner tomorrow night at Carnival De Goa.

Looking at Bangalore from atop the hotel- (pool is located on the roof).
